Nobody starts as a nine.
What’s a nine?
A nine is in control of their career. They have clarity: they know what they want next and why. They make decisions with confidence instead of letting their career push them around. They can walk into an interview, a salary conversation, or a career change ready, and still sound like themselves. And they give themselves grace: they make mistakes, learn from them, and get better over time.
Passing interviews is part of it. Building a career you’re glad you chose is the rest.
And a ten?
A ten would be flawless: every move right, every answer perfect, never a misstep. It doesn’t exist. But chasing it traps people in two ways.
Some people wait.
For the perfect résumé, the perfect timing, the perfect plan. They stay in the wrong role another year, then another. Perfect never arrives, and the leap never happens.
Some people go it alone.
They rehearse in the mirror, script every answer, and second-guess every big decision by themselves. With no one to tell them what matters, they polish the wrong things. Then life throws a question they didn’t plan for, and the plan falls apart.
Either way, the pressure wears them down. They burn out, and even when they get where they were going, it rarely feels like enough. That’s what we mean when we say tens get tired.
How nines grow.
With someone who has walked the path ahead of them. A coach who tells you what’s already working and what needs work, helps you think through the big decisions, and gets you ready for the moments that matter, from tomorrow’s interview to next year’s move. How you prepare matters as much as how much. Every session leaves you clearer, steadier, and more yourself.
Come as you are.
Here, your imperfections aren’t something to hide. The career change, the detour on your résumé, the nerves you can’t shake: they’re what make you real, and real is what people remember. Your coach helps you own them.
Nines don’t wait at the starting line, and they don’t burn out chasing perfect. They take control of their career, learn from every step, and keep charging forward.
Come as you are. Leave as a nine.
